About Me
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working both independently and in the NHS. I have worked for over 30 years with people with mental health issues, emotional and relationship difficulties. This has included both group and individual work. An important part of this has been to develop secure and trusting relationships, where people can feel safe enough to talk about difficult and often painful experiences without feeling judged. I aim to provide a reflective space where you can think with me and gain new perspectives on yourself and your difficulties. This may involve talking through experiences that have felt shameful or disturbing, grieving over aspects of the past and making sense of the ways in which past experience can still make for difficulties in the present. The aim of therapy is to help you to feel more comfortable with yourself. My role in this is both to support and challenge you in ways that respect you, strengthen your belief in yourself and develop your underlying sense of resilience.
As a psychoanalytic therapist, I am trained to help you think about your relationships with other people as well as with yourself, sometimes thinking also about how you respond and relate to me. Making links between current difficulties and the roots of these in past experiences can help you recognise patterns that can increase your insight into yourself and others. As your self-awareness and understanding develops, so does your trust in yourself, leading to improvements in your relationships, ultimately helping you to realise your full potential.

Training and Qualifications

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and I am trained as a Specialist Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in the NHS. Both trainings involved personal therapy and intensive supervised clinical practice as well as theoretical study. I am experienced in offering brief and long-term individual therapy as well as group therapy.

I have been a tutor, group facilitator and supervisor on counselling courses at Leicester University and I am a trainer and supervisor for the South Trent Training, a specialist NHS psychotherapy training. I also have a Diploma in Psychoanalytic Supervision.

I am registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am on the UKCP's Directory of Supervisors.

I work from home in Cosby and my consulting room is downstairs. There is off-street parking. I am 1.5 miles from Narborough railway station, and on a bus route (Number 84) from the City Centre, which stops nearby at Victory Park and Portland Street. This bus route also goes to Lutterworth.
